Rooted in the mountains of Las Caboas
In the mountains of the Dominican Republic, the story of Las Caobas® Coffee began with family, fertile land, and a love for coffee passed from one generation to the next.
Some stories are written with ink. Ours was written in Dominican soil, shaped by the mountains, and remembered through the aroma of freshly harvested coffee.
The story begins with Juan Veras María, a landowner and farmer whose property supported his family for many years. Coffee was more than a crop—it was a livelihood, a tradition, and a way of life.
After his passing, his son, Juan Veras Villar, continued caring for the land and preserving the values he had inherited: hard work, responsibility, honesty, and respect for nature.
Generations of the Veras family grew up surrounded by the rhythms of agricultural life. During harvest season, family members came together to carefully pick ripe coffee cherries by hand. Those experiences created lasting memories and a deep appreciation for the patience and dedication behind every quality cup of coffee.
As the needs of the land changed, the family transitioned to cultivating crops such as cocoa, avocados, and plantains. Although coffee production eventually faded from the family’s land, the pride in its roots and the desire to preserve its history never disappeared.
Today, Las Caobas® Coffee honors Juan Veras María, Juan Veras Villar, and the generations of Dominican farmers whose lives were shaped by the land.
Our brand represents the revival of a cherished family legacy and the opportunity to share the richness of Dominican coffee with people around the world.
